Publication Guidelines

Sociavera: Review of Social Studies and Culture is an international peer-reviewed academic journal published biannually (June and December) and applies a double-blind peer-review process. The journal publishes original scientific research in the fields of social sciences, cultural studies, humanities, and interdisciplinary areas.

Manuscripts may be submitted in either Turkish or English. All submissions must comply with academic writing standards and language requirements. The scientific and linguistic responsibility of the published works rests entirely with the author(s).

All manuscripts must be submitted exclusively through the journal’s online submission system (http://www.sociavera.com). Authors are required to prepare their manuscripts in accordance with the journal’s ethical principles and author guidelines. Submissions that do not comply with these rules will not be considered for review.

Submitted manuscripts must be original and must not have been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal. This condition is assumed to be guaranteed by the author(s).

Sociavera recommends the IMRAD structure (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion) for scientific manuscripts. IMRAD is a widely accepted international standard, particularly for original research articles. However, theoretical and review studies may also follow a traditional academic structure. Manuscripts prepared in IMRAD format may be given priority in the evaluation process.

All submissions are reviewed by at least two referees under a double-blind peer-review system. Publication decisions are made based on the positive reports of at least two reviewers and the decision of the Editorial Board.

During the typesetting and layout process, authors are expected to respond to revision and proofreading requests within the specified deadlines. Manuscripts for which authors do not respond in time may be deferred to a subsequent issue.

Accepted manuscripts are scheduled for publication based on their acceptance and submission dates.

More than one article by the same author(s) will not be published in the same issue.

Due to the double-blind peer-review process, manuscripts must not contain any information that reveals the identity of the author(s).

Author Guidelines

Manuscripts (including appendices and references) must not exceed 25 pages. Documents must be prepared in Microsoft Word format using “Aptos” font.

Page layout must be A4 size with 2.5 cm margins on all sides. Main headings should be 12 pt bold, subheadings 10 pt bold, and body text 10 pt regular. Line spacing should be single, with one blank line between paragraphs, and paragraphs should begin at the left margin without indentation.

The title should clearly and accurately reflect the content of the manuscript.

In-text citations must follow the author-date-page system:
Examples: (Yılmaz, 2008:15), (Öztürk and Akdoğan, 2010:225), (Öncü et al., 2005:10–12), (DPT, 2011:320)

Footnotes should be placed at the bottom of the page in 8 pt font.

For manuscripts written in Turkish, both Turkish and English abstracts not exceeding 500 words must be included. Under the Turkish abstract, Turkish keywords (minimum 3, maximum 5), and under the English abstract, English keywords (minimum 3, maximum 5) must be provided.

For manuscripts written in English, both English and Turkish abstracts not exceeding 500 words must be included. A maximum of three keywords should be provided under each abstract.

Abstracts must be written in single line spacing, 8 pt font, and fully justified alignment.

The Abstract sections of both Turkish and English manuscripts are subject to linguistic review. Even if a manuscript is accepted after peer review, those that are found insufficient in language quality may be returned to authors for revision before final publication. Manuscripts that do not pass language review will not be included in the publication schedule.

The reference list must be prepared in 10 pt font at the end of the manuscript. References should be listed alphabetically. If multiple works by the same author exist, they should be ordered chronologically (from oldest to newest). If multiple works by the same author in the same year exist, they should be distinguished using letters such as 2010a, 2010b. The reference list must follow APA style guidelines.
